Once your toothbrush has reached the end of its lifespan (it should be changed every 3–4 months) simply pull out the bristles using pliers or break the head before putting the handle in the compost. The rest goes in the trash. You can also reuse the handle as a stake to support a plant, identify your plants in the garden or start your campfire. Give free rein to your imagination.

The OLA Bamboo toothbrush is made with Moso Bamboo, which is not consumed by Pandas. It grows naturally at a rate of up to 4 feet per day, without the addition of any chemical substances. Its handle is specially designed to give you the perfect grip. The nylon bristles are flexible enough to reach all corners of your mouth keeping your gums healthy. It is smooth, durable and better than plastic. OLA bamboo helps you in taking a step towards a clean & green future.

Every year, more than 4.9 billion plastic toothbrushes, billions of straws and disposable plastic utensils end up in garbage dumps and various natural environments around the world. All this plastic takes about 500 years to decompose. Even when it does decompose, its chemical composition remains intact and the entire plastic substance remains in the environment for centuries longer. A lot of this plastic is found in the oceans where it is ingested by birds and fish. Approximately 90% of seabirds have ingested plastic. Bamboo is the main element used in the manufacture of the OLA Bamboo toothbrush. This 100% natural and 100% biodegradable material replaces plastic, a substance very commonly used for the manufacture of conventional toothbrushes. OLA Bamboo utensils are made of 100% birch and straws are made of 100% bamboo. Since bamboo is a plant and birch is a tree, they decompose naturally in the environment. In short, when you dispose of your OLA Bamboo toothbrush, utensils or straws, in whatever way you do so, you help eliminate unnecessary plastic in the environment by replacing it with bamboo or wood, which break down naturally.

Bamboo is the main material used in the manufacture of the OLA Bamboo toothbrush. This 100% natural and 100% compostable plant replaces plastic. Because bamboo is a tree, it decomposes naturally in the environment. By purchasing an OLA Bamboo toothbrush, you help eliminate unnecessary plastic in the environment.

The quality of brushing remains the same, regardless of the type of material used to make the handle. Good tooth brushing depends more on the bristles, the head of the toothbrush, and the proper brushing technique.

There are two categories of compostable products: those that break down in a home compost system and those that decompose in an industrial compost system (e.g. a city compost). Products described as compostable will break down naturally as they are usually made of organic materials (e.g. plants).

The term biodegradable is not always well defined. It refers to any material that will decompose in nature after a certain number of years. However, there is no clear definition of the time frame needed for a product to decompose; moreover, a product can change shape but retain its chemical composition (e.g. biodegradable plastic bags).

Only the handle of our toothbrush is 100% compostable, not the bristles.

At the present time, the only toothbrushes that are 100% compostable have bristles that are made of pig hair. To source the pig hair, pigs are slaughtered and their hair is removed and processed into bristles. We figured, who really wants to brush their teeth with pig hair anyway? That said, we are currently working to develop a 100% compostable toothbrush made from plants.

Its durability and strength make it an excellent choice. It possesses antifungal, antibacterial, and anti-odor properties. It is biodegradable, naturally pest-resistant, and regrows to its adult size in 3 to 5 years.

Not at all!! Pandas don’t eat Moso Bamboo, so we are not taking away their food source. Moreover, while harvesting, it is cut down to only 18″, which allows it to regrow naturally over and over. Bamboo is known to grow over 4 feet a day under the right conditions.

Bamboo is commonly found in tropical, subtropical, or temperate zones. For example in parts of Asia, Africa, South America, and North America. But the major part of it that is used in retail is grown in China because it grows naturally in China.

OLA Bamboo is the first company to manufacture bamboo toothbrushes in Canada.

  1. Pearl

My two daughters are quite happy with the color of the toothbrushes, as they always fight over the color. Both of them have like the product, I was worried that they would complain but they actually liked these. Nice sleek design for children with compact head and ultra soft bristles.

  2. scott

My kids actually enjoyed these over the plastic ones. They are small, easy to hold and have soft bristles. The good thing is, the bristles don’t fall out, I rolled my finger over the bristles to check as I was worried my kids would not brush their teeth again with these if that would be the case.

  3. Shirley

These tooth brushes are very cute and are of perfect size for my little ones. Colors are also great, my three little munchkins are happy so I am happy. Would definitely buy these again.

  4. Kinsley

I took a breath of relief after my kiddos approved the toothbrushes. We are trying to go zero waste and I was worried whether my kids would like them or not. They are comfortable and bristles are soft as per my 6 year old so thumbs-up for that.

  5. Taura

Perfect toothbrushes for kids considering size and quality. I had 2 major concerns – the smooth texture and quality of the bristles. I am satisfied with the purchase for my kids and they also didn’t complain of any discomfort.

  6. Dave

No complaints quality-wise. The wood is smooth and the head is small for his tiny mouth. However, he is taking time to get used to it.

  7. Jenna

My son loves his new brush and is eager to brush his teeth every morning. Colourful bristles are fun for him and he has kept separate colours for his morning and evening. Loved the quality, the bristles are soft and clean well.

  8. Paul

Nice colorful brushes at such a price. Both my kids are happy with their brushes.

  9. Grace

I keep my kids away from plastic products as much as possible and I am extremely happy to find these amazing toothbrushes. These are just the right size and the bristles are extremely soft.

  10. Florence

The toothbrush is super cute. I am happy that my daughter loved it so everything seems to be fine with these brushes!
