Once your toothbrush has reached the end of its lifespan (it should be changed every 3–4 months) simply pull out the bristles using pliers or break the head before putting the handle in the compost. The rest goes in the trash. You can also reuse the handle as a stake to support a plant, identify your plants in the garden or start your campfire. Give free rein to your imagination.

The OLA Bamboo toothbrush is made with Moso Bamboo, which is not consumed by Pandas. It grows naturally at a rate of up to 4 feet per day, without the addition of any chemical substances. Its handle is specially designed to give you the perfect grip. The nylon bristles are flexible enough to reach all corners of your mouth keeping your gums healthy. It is smooth, durable and better than plastic. OLA bamboo helps you in taking a step towards a clean & green future.

Every year, more than 4.9 billion plastic toothbrushes, billions of straws and disposable plastic utensils end up in garbage dumps and various natural environments around the world. All this plastic takes about 500 years to decompose. Even when it does decompose, its chemical composition remains intact and the entire plastic substance remains in the environment for centuries longer. A lot of this plastic is found in the oceans where it is ingested by birds and fish. Approximately 90% of seabirds have ingested plastic. Bamboo is the main element used in the manufacture of the OLA Bamboo toothbrush. This 100% natural and 100% biodegradable material replaces plastic, a substance very commonly used for the manufacture of conventional toothbrushes. OLA Bamboo utensils are made of 100% birch and straws are made of 100% bamboo. Since bamboo is a plant and birch is a tree, they decompose naturally in the environment. In short, when you dispose of your OLA Bamboo toothbrush, utensils or straws, in whatever way you do so, you help eliminate unnecessary plastic in the environment by replacing it with bamboo or wood, which break down naturally.

Bamboo is the main material used in the manufacture of the OLA Bamboo toothbrush. This 100% natural and 100% compostable plant replaces plastic. Because bamboo is a tree, it decomposes naturally in the environment. By purchasing an OLA Bamboo toothbrush, you help eliminate unnecessary plastic in the environment.

The quality of brushing remains the same, regardless of the type of material used to make the handle. Good tooth brushing depends more on the bristles, the head of the toothbrush, and the proper brushing technique.

There are two categories of compostable products: those that break down in a home compost system and those that decompose in an industrial compost system (e.g. a city compost). Products described as compostable will break down naturally as they are usually made of organic materials (e.g. plants).

The term biodegradable is not always well defined. It refers to any material that will decompose in nature after a certain number of years. However, there is no clear definition of the time frame needed for a product to decompose; moreover, a product can change shape but retain its chemical composition (e.g. biodegradable plastic bags).

Only the handle of our toothbrush is 100% compostable, not the bristles.

At the present time, the only toothbrushes that are 100% compostable have bristles that are made of pig hair. To source the pig hair, pigs are slaughtered and their hair is removed and processed into bristles. We figured, who really wants to brush their teeth with pig hair anyway? That said, we are currently working to develop a 100% compostable toothbrush made from plants.

You can throw the handle of the bamboo toothbrush in the compost bin after removing the bristles using pliers. It will go to the soil within 6 months. The rest goes in the trash. You can also reuse the handle as a stake to support a plant, or to start a campfire.

The bristles of Charcoal infused toothbrushes are infused with activated charcoal. Charcoal helps in whitening the teeth and removing plaque.

Bamboo is one of the most environmentally friendly crops that exist today. For starters, it is not only a renewable resource but one that does so quickly. In fact, a bamboo plantation has a yield up to 25 times that of a forest. Bamboo does not require pesticides or artificial fertilizers. The manufacture of OLA Bamboo toothbrushes only requires a variety of bamboo that is not eaten by pandas or other animals of the Chinese forest. It is important that bamboo cultivation is done with great care to prevent the spread of bamboo in natural forests; due to its highly efficient reproduction system, bamboo can act as an invasive species.

  1. Bentley

Great toothbrush, biodegradable, does the job well. I’d surely recommend these brushes, quality is fine, bristles don’t fall off like other brushes, no splinters. In short, ideal brushes.

  2. Ashley

I was excited to see the eco-friendly brushes, they are smooth to hold and have curved soft bristles that clean the difficult to reach areas well. The charcoal bristles give the feeling of freshness for a long time. My husband and I both liked the toothbrushes.

  3. Daisy

I have been making a switch to eco-friendly products and I feel lucky to have found these amazing wooden brushes. Earlier I used the simple ones, this time I ordered the charcoal toothbrushes. The comfort of using the brush is perfect and it does a great job of cleaning the gums too. I would like to buy them again.

  4. Mary

I hadn’t used any charcoal coating brush earlier. Bristles are soft on gums as I have sensitive gums but I felt it like the regular toothbrush.

  5. Lilly

I am really in love with the bristles of these toothbrushes, they are just right. Their design and softness is the perfect combination to keep mouth fresh, clean and plague free. I am a kind of frequent brusher so ola bamboo has become my new favorite brand.

  6. Avery

I was looking for a biodegradable toothbrush and then my colleague recommended these charcoal toothbrushes of Ola bamboo. I was bit doubtful about the charcoal part but after using it, I fell for it. It really does a fantastic job and it is quite smooth to hold.

  7. Aaron

It’s my first time using the bamboo toothbrush and I’m liking it. It’s all wooden and no plastic, the packaging is also recyclable. Happy to buy it.

  8. Natalie

So far I didn’t find any added advantage of using a charcoal toothbrush, overall the toothbrush is nice. It is easy on gums and cleans well.

  9. Kendra

Nice toothbrush! I wasn’t convinced that charcoal bristles would do something extra but I think my teeth got a bit whiter after a few uses.

  10. Joseph

Nice sturdy toothbrush with soft bristles.

  11. Will Carey

Good construction, but way too soft compared to other brushes. Feels like you can’t get any food or plaque off your teeth. Other soft toothbrushes are more structured than these.
